| The Story The brute wrestler and fireeater Zampano and the naive Gelsomina try to survive in the world of circus and streettheater. Gelsomina dreams of the life as an artist but that is crueally destroyed by Zampano. When the ruthless character of Il Matto (the fool) opens the eyes of Gelsomina and hilariously obstructs Zampano, it turns out that life is fragile, very fragile. |

| HannaH de Leeuwe (Gelsomina) Actrice, dancer and teacher HannaH de Leeuwe got in 1966 her graduation from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. After this she went to New York to continue an education in jazzdance. With theaterblood running through her entire body, she worked in a great diversity of theater and television productions amongst: 'Children for Children', tv. specials with Lex Goudsmit, the public tv.series 'Klaverweide' and legendary 'Waldolala' with Dolf Bouwer. She worked in a.o. 'The Gerard Cox Show', 'Jasperina's Big Ego Trip' and with the Amsterdam 'Volkstoneel' with the famous 'Potasch&Perlemoer', 'Rooie Sien' and 'Gypsy'. In movie productions she she acted in 'Keetje Tippel' and 'Soldier of Orange' directed by Paul Verhoeven, 'Rooie Sien' direction Frans Weisz and 'High heels, real love' directed by Dimitri Frenkel Frank. Amongst the artists she worked with are Jasperina de Jong, Adele Bloemendal, Polo de Haas, Hans Boskamp, Leonie Janssen and now for the first time Thom Stuart and Rinus Sprong. Since 1977 she works as a teacher and staffcolaborator for Codarts Rotterdam, Dance Academy and Conservatory. |
| Rinus Sprong (Il Matto) After a short education at the Amsterdam Theaterschool and the Rotterdam Dansacademy his career took of as an dancer for Netherlands Dance Theatre 2 under guidance of Jiri Kylian. After this he danced in Holland and abroad with a.o. Theatre Choreographique de Rennes(Fr), The New Boys(NY), Bat Dor Dance Company(Isr), Intro Dans, The Scapino Ballet and lots of free productions for festivals. His career could be called unique for The Netherlands for it covers the contemporary dance as well as classical dance, musical productions and theatershows. Amongst the choreographers he worked withe are,Hans van Manen, Nils Christe, Jiri Kylian, Ed Wubbe, Mats Ek and Thom Stuart. In direction of Guusje Eybers he played a part in 'Dolf Brouwer, ben ik dat'. In the legendaryu musical 'Grace, the musical' he worked with Cy Coleman(composer 'Sweet Charity'), Frans Weisz (direction) and Pat Birch (choreography, 'Grease'). With Jan Schouten he performed his full evening performance 'Cafe Chantant' and he got 'worldfame' ' at the prestigious summerfestival De Parade in diverse DeDDDD productions. In 2001'Fortuna's Follies' won 'De Mus' as best festival production. As teacher he worked for 10 years for the Rotterdams Dansacademy, 'Conny Jansen Danst' and Artez, Arnhem. As choreographer he worked with dutch stars like Loes Luca, Arjan Ederveen and for Cabaret Lulu Entertaiment New York. This season he is to be seen in 'WAM!' of Briza youththeater The Hague (see www.briza.nl). |
| Thom Stuart (Zampano) Being the son of a coalminer he moved, being 12 years old, to the Hague in a guets family, to study ballet at The Royal Conservatory. He spent his succesfull carreer with Scapino Ballet, Intro Dans, Feld Ballets New York, Bat Dor Dance Co. Israel and lots of free-lance dance productions. As choreographer he made about 70 works, that range from a small autobiographical solo to a mass production for 1200 dancers for the prestigious Holland Dance Festival. In 1998 he received the Lucas Hoving prize for choreography, for 'Closet Case & other short stories' produced by the Theater at the Spui The Hague. In 2003 in the monumental Big Church of The Hague, his 'Orlando' premiered and in 2006 he choreographed, together with Rinus Sprong, a complete new 'Nutcracker' for 101 dancers, amongst two upcomming stars of the American Ballet Theatre. The big succes of this production will repeat itself in 2007/2008 As a populair balletteacher/coach he teaches a.o. at the Haagsche Dansetage, Codarts, Artez and the school of the Kibbutz Dance Company Israel. |
